Tolu Arokodare could hardly have asked for a better introduction to life at Ajax after scoring on his debut to help the Dutch giants secure a convincing pre-season victory over Volendam.
The Super Eagles striker came off the bench to make an immediate impression, capping his first appearance for the Amsterdam club with a well taken goal that underlined why Ajax moved to bring him to the Eredivisie.
Arokodare joined Ajax on a season-long loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers after enduring a difficult campaign in the Premier League.
The agreement, which runs until June 2027, also includes an option for Ajax to make the move permanent for a reported €22 million (£17 million).

The 25-year-old arrived in Amsterdam determined to revive his career, and he wasted little time making his mark.
With Ajax already holding a comfortable 2-0 lead, Arokodare was introduced in the 71st minute in place of Marcos Leonardo.
Seventeen minutes later, the Nigerian striker found the back of the net.
A dangerous delivery into the penalty area caused confusion in the Volendam defence after the goalkeeper failed to deal convincingly with the cross.
The loose ball fell kindly to Arokodare, who showed composure inside a crowded penalty area by bringing it under control before calmly poking home from close range to make it 3-1.
The finish provided an encouraging glimpse of the physical presence and instinctive finishing that Ajax hope will strengthen their attack this season.

Arokodare’s move to Ajax follows a frustrating spell at Wolverhampton Wanderers, where he struggled to establish himself after arriving in England.
The loan move offers the Nigerian international the opportunity for regular football at one of Europe’s most historic clubs while competing in a league renowned for developing attacking talent.
