More than three decades after first dazzling supporters in Frankfurt, Nigerian football icon Jay-Jay Okocha remains woven into the fabric of Eintracht Frankfurt.
The Bundesliga club paid a heartfelt tribute to one of its greatest ever players by choosing Okocha to headline and narrate the launch of its 2026/27 away kit, a gesture that underlines the lasting bond between the Nigerian legend and the Eagles.
Rather than unveiling the shirt with current stars alone, Frankfurt handed the spotlight to a player whose brilliance helped shape a generation of supporters.

The campaign’s narration carried a message centred on history, identity and tradition.
“They thought it was gone when it left the crest.”
“But it lived in the stands, in every chest.”
“In the songs, in the nights we have wept.”
“A symbol the faithful forever kept.”
As the video progressed, it reflected on the connection between past and present before ending with a powerful question and answer.
“So tell me, is it really a comeback?”
“Always there.”
The words captured the essence of Frankfurt’s latest away shirt while also echoing Okocha’s own place in the club’s story a legend whose influence never truly disappeared.

Okocha arrived at Eintracht Frankfurt in 1992 and quickly became one of the Bundesliga’s most exciting entertainers.
His extraordinary dribbling ability, fearless creativity and unforgettable goals transformed him into a fan favourite, with his famous solo strike against Karlsruher SC in 1993 where he left goalkeeper Oliver Kahn and several defenders stranded remaining one of the most iconic goals in Bundesliga history.
Although he left Frankfurt in 1996, the relationship endured.
The former Super Eagles captain is now an official club ambassador and is regularly invited back for anniversary celebrations, special events and international promotional campaigns.
For many Frankfurt supporters, Okocha is not simply a former player but one of the defining figures in the club’s modern history.

Frankfurt’s decision to place Okocha at the centre of the kit launch was about more than celebrating the past. It’s the club’s recognition that some players transcend generations, becoming permanent symbols of a club’s identity.
By entrusting the campaign to the Nigerian, Frankfurt reminded supporters that while shirts, crests and eras may evolve, the values and memories created by iconic figures remain.
The closing line “Always there” served as a fitting description of both the club’s cherished emblem and Okocha’s enduring place in Eintracht Frankfurt folklore.
