Raphael Onyedika has received positive news after suffering a late shoulder problem during Eintracht Frankfurt’s 2-2 draw with Freiburg, with the midfielder expected to join the Super Eagles as planned.
Onyedika started in midfield and played almost the entire Bundesliga encounter before hurting his shoulder during a duel with Freiburg substitute Lucas Höler in the 91st minute. The Nigerian required treatment but was able to continue until the final whistle.
According to LigaInsider, Onyedika did not suffer a serious injury and there is no obstacle to him travelling to join the Nigeria squad during the international break.

The update comes as a boost for Eric Chelle, who included Onyedika in his 24-man squad for Nigeria’s opening two 2027 AFCON qualifying matches. The Super Eagles will face Madagascar in Uyo on September 25 before travelling to play Guinea-Bissau on September 29.
Onyedika is one of four midfielders selected by Chelle, alongside Wilfred Ndidi, Alex Iwobi and Frank Onyeka.

The position has already been affected by injuries to Tochukwu Nnadi, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru and Alhassan Yusuf, while Monza youngster Ebenezer Akinsanmiro was not selected.
