Cole Palmer has signed a new contract with Chelsea that will keep the England international at Stamford Bridge until 2034, extending his commitment to the club he joined from Manchester City in August 2023.

Chelsea announced the deal on Saturday, expressing delight at securing the future of the 24-year-old attacking midfielder

Palmer said his belief in Chelsea’s direction and the ambition shared by the squad influenced his decision to sign the extension.

“Chelsea means a lot to me and I think the club is going in the right direction, so I’m delighted to sign and I’m obviously very happy,” he said.

The midfielder added that discussions with the club’s owners, sporting directors and manager gave him confidence in the project, while the players’ collective desire to win major trophies also played a role in his decision.

Palmer made an immediate impact following his arrival from Manchester City, delivering an outstanding debut season in 2023/24 with 25 goals and 19 assists across all competitions.

His performances earned him Chelsea’s Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season awards.

He also collected the Premier League Young Player of the Season award and the Professional Footballers’ Association Young Player of the Year honour.

The new agreement provides Chelsea with long-term continuity around one of their leading attacking players as the club seeks to turn its ambitions into further silverware.
