Galatasaray coach reacts to Atletico Madrid’s reported €120m move for Victor Osimhen

Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk has played down growing speculation linking Victor Osimhen with a blockbuster move to Atletico Madrid, insisting that the Turkish champions have not received any offer for the Nigerian striker.

Reports in Spain and Turkey had suggested that Atletico Madrid submitted a verbal proposal worth €120 million for the Super Eagles forward. The rumors claimed Galatasaray rejected the offer as they prepared for the 2026/27 season, fueling fresh uncertainty over Osimhen’s future.

According to the reports, Atletico boss Diego Simeone views Osimhen as the ideal addition to his attack amid questions surrounding the futures of Julian Alvarez and Alexander Sorloth. The Nigerian’s pace, physical presence, pressing intensity and clinical finishing reportedly made him one of the Spanish club’s priority targets.

However, Buruk has dismissed the speculation and insisted there have been no developments regarding a potential transfer.

“We haven’t received any such proposal. There’s nothing going on right now. Hopefully, he will continue his career at Galatasaray,” Buruk said, according to CumHuriyet.

The Galatasaray coach also indicated that neither Osimhen nor his representatives have signaled any intention to leave Istanbul this summer.

The Turkish champions remain determined to hold on to one of the most influential players in their squad after his impressive performances since making his move from Napoli permanent.

Galatasaray’s confidence is on the significant investment made to secure the striker’s services. The club paid €75 million to sign Osimhen from Napoli, setting a new Turkish Super Lig transfer record, while also committing to his reported €15 million net annual salary.

The 27-year-old has quickly become a fan favorite and a central figure in Galatasaray’s long term plans. During his first full season as a permanent player, Osimhen scored 22 goals and provided eight assists in 32 appearances, helping the club secure a fourth consecutive Super Lig title.

Although several European giants, including Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea and Barcelona, continue to be linked with the Nigerian international, there has been no indication from the player’s camp that a departure is imminent.

Osimhen is currently enjoying his off-season, but Galatasaray remain confident that  will still be leading their attack when the 2026/27 season begins in August.
