Galatasaray target Onyedika as Osimhen connection fuels transfer interest

Galatasaray are reportedly preparing a renewed move for Raphael Onyedika as the Turkish champions continue plans to strengthen their squad ahead of next season.

According to Turkish outlet Fotomac, Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk remains a strong admirer of the Nigerian midfielder and is pushing the club to revive their pursuit during the summer transfer window after an earlier bid was rejected in January.

The Istanbul giants are expected to return with fresh negotiations as they seek to reinforce their midfield for another title challenge and a return to the UEFA Champions League.

A potential move would also see Onyedika link up with fellow Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen at RAMS Park should the striker remain in Turkey beyond the current campaign.

The possibility of pairing two regular Nigerian internationals in the same Galatasaray side has already generated growing interest, particularly following Osimhen’s influential performances during the club’s latest title-winning season.

Onyedika has quietly developed into one of the most reliable midfielders in Belgium since joining Club Brugge KV.

The 25-year-old has contributed three goals and three assists in 40 appearances across all competitions this season while continuing to impress with his defensive discipline, physicality and ability to recover possession in midfield.

His performances have also strengthened his standing within the Super Eagles setup, where he has become an increasingly important presence in Nigeria’s midfield structure.

Onyedika particularly caught attention during Nigeria’s run at the Africa Cup of Nations, where his energy and ball-winning qualities added balance to the team in difficult matches.

Galatasaray reportedly view those attributes as ideal for Okan Buruk’s tactical system, especially with the club looking to build a squad capable of competing more aggressively in Europe next season.

The midfielder’s current contract situation could also play a major role in the negotiations.

Onyedika has only one year remaining on his existing deal with Club Brugge and reports suggest he has already rejected proposals to extend his stay in Belgium.

That development may increase pressure on the Belgian side to consider offers this summer rather than risk losing the Nigerian for a reduced fee later.
