Nigerian midfielder Frank Onyeka has completed a permanent move to Coventry after the club confirmed his arrival from Brentford for an undisclosed fee.

The 28-year-old initially joined the Sky Blues on loan in January, but the deal has now been made permanent following the opening of the summer transfer window.

Onyeka quickly established himself as an important figure in Frank Lampard’s side, helping Coventry secure the Sky Bet Championship title and earn promotion back to the Premier League.

The Super Eagles midfielder made 14 appearances during his loan spell and scored a memorable goal in a crucial victory over Derby County in April as Coventry’s promotion push gathered momentum.

His permanent signing also brings significant top-flight experience to the newly promoted side, having made 75 Premier League appearances during his time at Brentford.
