The Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) has appointed internationally experienced coach Ryan Masajedi as Technical Adviser and Head Coach of the country’s national volleyball teams in a move designed to strengthen Nigeria’s technical structure ahead of future continental and international competitions.
Masajedi was officially unveiled on Wednesday at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Package B, Abuja, where federation officials presented the coach as the latest addition to their long term plans for the growth of volleyball in Nigeria.
The appointment brings one of the sport’s most widely travelled coaches to Nigeria. Over the past decade, Masajedi has built an impressive coaching career across Asia and Europe, working with elite national teams and professional clubs while gaining a reputation for technical development, tactical organisation and player progression.
The 47-year-old has previously served as assistant coach of the Iran and Japan men’s national teams, two of Asia’s traditional volleyball powerhouses. He also enjoyed a spell as head coach of Bangladesh’s men’s national team, while his club coaching career has taken him to Italy, Indonesia, Japan and Iran, exposing him to some of the world’s most competitive volleyball environments.

Before moving into coaching, Masajedi enjoyed a successful professional playing career with clubs in Iran, Kuwait and Denmark, experience that has helped shape his coaching philosophy centred on technical discipline, tactical intelligence and long-term player development.
His responsibilities in Nigeria will extend beyond match-day management. As Technical Adviser, Masajedi is expected to oversee the technical development of the national teams, support coaching education programmes, improve performance analysis and introduce modern training methods aimed at raising standards across all levels of the national setup.
