Osimhen vows to stay sharp for Galatasaray and Nigeria ahead of Gabon clash

Victor Osimhen rejects Al Hilal offer despite Napoli agreeing €75m fee. Nigerian striker prioritises return to top European football.

Victor Osimhen says he is determined to maintain his blistering form for both club and country as Galatasaray prepare for crucial fixtures while Nigeria gear up for their World Cup playoff clash.

The Nigerian striker has scored six goals across all competitions this season, helping Galatasaray stay unbeaten in the Turkish Super Lig and powering the Super Eagles to a 4–0 win over Benin Republic earlier this month.

That result set up a decisive semi-final tie against Gabon in mid-November a match Osimhen says carries deep personal significance after missing the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

“I want to be in the World Cup with my country,” Osimhen told Sporx. “I’m giving everything for both club and country. We have many goals to fight for, and I’ll help my teammates with goals, assists, and hard work.”

Before Nigeria’s playoff encounter, Osimhen’s immediate focus is on Galatasaray’s league showdown with title rivals Trabzonspor, led by fellow Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu. The champions currently hold a five-point lead at the top of the table.

A few days later, Galatasaray travel to Amsterdam to face Ajax in the Champions League a rematch of their Europa League defeat earlier this year, which Osimhen says he hasn’t forgotten.

“I respect Trabzonspor and Ajax; they’re great teams,” he said. “But we have the quality to beat any side in the world. We’ll give everything to win.”
