Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle says goals, tactical discipline and mental strength will be decisive when Nigeria face Algeria in the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Speaking ahead of Saturday’s tie, Chelle described the tournament as an unforgiving competition where fine margins often determine progress.
“This is a big competition,” he said. “To win games at this level, you have to score goals.”

The Nigerian coach confirmed that his technical crew has carried out detailed analysis of the Algerian side, with preparations focused on identifying areas where his team can gain an advantage.
“We will analyse the game to try to find the weaknesses of the opponent,” Chelle added.

Nigeria enter the last-eight stage as one of the form teams of the tournament, but Chelle warned that knockout football demands composure as well as quality, particularly under pressure.
“Your mindset is really important,” he said. “At this stage, you have to manage the pressure.”
