Maja breaks scoring curse to spark Baggies victory

Josh Maja ended a lengthy scoring drought as West Bromwich Albion secured a crucial 3–0 victory over Hull City in the EFL Championship at The Hawthorns.

The Nigerian striker had gone 25 matches without a goal and more than 528 minutes without scoring since his last strike in a 3–2 win against Swansea City in November 2025.

Maja ended that run in the 25th minute, giving the Baggies the lead in a game that carried major significance for their fight against relegation.

West Brom took full advantage after the interval, with Aune Heggebø doubling the lead in the 67th minute.

Isaac Price added a third deep into stoppage time to complete a comfortable victory for the hosts.

Maja has been one of West Brom’s key attacking options in recent seasons, but the 26-year-old has struggled to rediscover his best form after a calf injury last season sidelined him for more than 20 matches and prematurely ended his campaign.
