Taiwo Awoniyi scored on his return to form as Nottingham Forest secured a commanding 3-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Sunday.
The result leaves Tottenham with just 30 points from 31 matches their joint-lowest tally at this stage of a league campaign since the 1914–15 English football season.
Spurs, playing at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, began brightly and dominated early possession, but struggled to convert their pressure into clear chances.
Forest took the lead just before half-time when Igor Jesus headed home from a corner delivered by Neco Williams.
The visitors doubled their advantage in the 62nd minute through Morgan Gibbs-White, who capitalised on a loose ball in the penalty area to beat goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.

Awoniyi, introduced from the bench in the second half, added a third in the 87th minute. The Nigeria international met another cross from Williams and guided his effort past Vicario to seal the victory.

The goal was Awoniyi’s first in two months and his second in 12 league appearances this season, following a campaign disrupted by injury.
Despite late pressure from the hosts, Forest held firm to secure a crucial win in the relegation battle, while Tottenham’s poor run of form continues to raise concerns.
