Speaking after the match, the former Egypt captain repeatedly highlighted the influence of supporters both inside the stadium and back home, describing the result as a reward for a nation that had stayed awake through the night to follow the team.

“The whole of Egypt was awake and waiting for the national team,” Hassan said during his post-match press conference.

He revealed that he and his coaching staff had challenged the players before the game to deliver a performance worthy of the expectations of millions of Egyptians.

“We told ourselves that we could not leave the stadium having disappointed our country and our people,” he explained.

The 59-year-old admitted he would have been deeply affected had the team failed to reward the faith shown by supporters.

“I was really sad when I thought about our people being unhappy. We love Egypt very much, and we express that through our work, our training and our performances.”

Hassan also thanked Egyptian fans who travelled from across North America to support the team, after large crowds created a vibrant atmosphere around the stadium before kick-off.

According to the coach, the scenes generated by supporters left a lasting impression on both the players and coaching staff.

“The secret is that we are Egyptians,” Hassan said.

“Egyptians can do anything. The support we saw was incredible. I thank the Egyptian people for their trust in us and for standing by the national team.”

Despite the celebrations, Hassan stressed that Egypt’s focus would soon shift to their next challenge, while promising supporters that the team would continue fighting for success at the tournament.
