Granada have secured the signing of highly rated Nigerian striker Chinaza Marvellous Onouha Okonyia, rewarding the youngster’s outstanding goalscoring campaign with UP Plasencia by bringing him into the club’s development system.
The Spanish side confirmed that the 2005-born forward will initially link up with Recreativo Granada, where he is expected to continue his rapid development after emerging as one of the most prolific goalscorers in Spanish regional football last season.
Okonyia arrives in Andalusia on the back of a remarkable campaign that saw him spearhead UP Plasencia’s promotion from the Primera Extremeña to the Tercera RFEF.
The Nigerian forward finished the season with an impressive 34 goals in all competitions, underlining his reputation as a clinical finisher. He struck 23 goals in 23 league appearances to finish as the division’s top scorer, while also netting seven times in the Copa Extremadura and adding four goals across two promotion play-off matches as Plasencia completed a memorable campaign.
His consistency in front of goal played a pivotal role in the club’s promotion success and quickly attracted attention from higher up the Spanish football pyramid.

Granada have completed the signing of Nigerian striker Chinaza Okonyia after the 20-year-old scored 34 goals in all competitions to fire UP Plasencia to promotion.
The move also addresses a key need for Granada’s reserve side, which struggled for goals during the previous campaign. Club officials will hope Okonyia’s proven eye for goal provides the attacking spark as Recreativo Granada target a stronger league campaign and push for promotion.
