The Nigerian football community has been thrown into mourning following the reported death of Katsina United player Chinedu Ozor, who collapsed during a pre-season friendly against Niger Tornadoes in Katsina on Tuesday, August 11, 2026.
Ozor, who had only recently joined the Nigeria Premier Football League side, reportedly suffered the medical emergency during the early stages of the match at Karkanda Stadium.
Reports indicate that the defender collapsed about 10 to 15 minutes after the match began, prompting an immediate response from players, officials and others around the pitch.
