Kelechi Iheanacho’s return to Turkish football has developed into one of the more impressive individual stories of the season, with his goals helping Bursaspor establish themselves among the leading promotion contenders.
The Nigerian striker has quickly become an important figure at his new club, and his performances are now attracting attention beyond the TFF First League.
Fresh reports from Turkey suggest that one of the country’s biggest clubs is monitoring his situation ahead of the January transfer window. The interest, if it develops further, could present Bursaspor with an important decision midway through their promotion campaign.
Turkish journalist Ahmet Selim Kul first raised the possibility of a move, saying on HT Spor that information reaching him pointed to interest from Fenerbahçe. His comments were subsequently carried by Turkish publications including Gazete Gerçek and Yeni Şafak.
According to the reports, the Süper Lig club are considering Iheanacho as a potential target for the winter window. However, there is no indication that Fenerbahçe have submitted a formal bid or reached an agreement with either Bursaspor or the player.

Kul also identified Fenerbahçe’s foreign-player allocation as a potential obstacle, suggesting the club would need to create space in their squad before pursuing a deal.
That leaves the speculation at the stage of reported interest, rather than an imminent transfer. But the fact that Iheanacho has attracted attention from a club of Fenerbahçe’s stature reflects the impact he has made since arriving in Turkey.
The 30-year-old has registered 16 goals and three assists in his league campaign, according to the figures reported in Turkey. His contribution has helped Bursaspor move to the top of the table, strengthening their hopes of returning to the Turkish top flight.
His influence was evident again in the club’s 3–0 victory over Bandırmaspor on Saturday, October 31. Although Iheanacho failed to find the net, ending his 12-match consecutive league scoring streak, he started and played the full match after recovering from a knock sustained the previous weekend.
Halil Akbunar opened the scoring in the seventh minute before Lewis Baker struck twice, in the 12th and 23rd minutes, to give Bursaspor a commanding advantage.

The result extended Bursaspor’s winning run to four league matches and left them with 31 points after 13 fixtures. Iheanacho remained on 16 league goals and three assists, while his side maintained their position at the summit.
There is also a personal ambition behind the striker’s impressive start. Iheanacho has spoken positively about his experience at Bursaspor and his desire to help the club achieve promotion.
Whether Fenerbahçe turn their reported interest into a formal approach remains to be seen. Bursaspor, meanwhile, will be keen to keep hold of a striker whose goals have become central to their ambitions.
