The board of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has officially announced that its Annual General Meeting (AGM) and draws for the 2025/26 season will take place on July 28, 2025, in Abuja, marking the formal kickoff of another historic season in Nigerian football.
According to NPFL Chief Operating Officer Davidson Owumi, the event will be hosted at the Top Rank Galaxy Hotel, where clubs, stakeholders, and league officials are expected to converge for the unveiling of fixtures for the upcoming campaign.
“We bring you compliments of the Board, Management, and Staff of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL),” Owumi stated. “I am directed to invite you to the AGM and draws event scheduled for July 28th.”
The new season comes on the back of an unforgettable 2024/25 campaign that saw Remo Stars crowned champions for the first time in their history.

The Ikenne-based club secured the title with three games to spare, clinching it on matchday 35 following a dramatic away win over Nasarawa United in Lafia.
Across 380 matches played during the last season, fans witnessed:
- 286 wins
- 92 draws
- 552 home goals scored
- 1,180+ yellow and red cards issued
- 16 penalties missed
The league’s top scorer, Yusuf Anas, finished with 18 goals, including two consecutive hat-tricks a rare achievement in NPFL history. He was closely followed by Rabiu Ali, who ended the campaign with 13 goals.
In a bid to boost competitiveness, the League Management has confirmed that the champions of the 2025/26 NPFL season will receive a record ₦200 million cash prize, the highest ever in the league’s history.
Four teams will join the elite division for the upcoming season:
- Kun Khalifat FC
- Warri Wolves
- Wikki Tourists
- Barau FC
These sides will be aiming to make their mark among Nigeria’s top-tier clubs as anticipation builds toward the new campaign.
