Wikki Tourists technical adviser Abdul Maikaba has resigned from his position with immediate effect, citing internal disunity at the club and concerns over his personal safety.
In a resignation letter dated 9 February 2026 and addressed to the club’s chairman, Maikaba said disagreements among stakeholders had made it “very difficult to achieve the set objectives of the group”.
The coach also revealed he had received multiple threats while carrying out his duties, describing the situation as unsafe.
“I have received so many threats to my life in the course of carrying out this job from some sections of the fans,” Maikaba wrote, adding that the threats came “either through physical attack or through social media platforms”.

He said the circumstances forced him to step aside after discussions with his family.
“For these reasons I was forced to take the decision to quit after consulting my family members,” the letter stated.

Despite the circumstances surrounding his exit, Maikaba expressed appreciation to the club’s hierarchy.
“I will also use this opportunity to thank the management for giving me the chance to serve in this great club,” he said, adding that he hoped his resignation would be accepted.
His departure comes a day after Wikki Tourists were held to a dramatic 4-4 draw by neighbours Katsina United in a Nigeria Premier Football League matchday 25 fixture in Bauchi.
