NPFL 2025/26: Kano Pillars fined and handed stadium ban after second crowd trouble incident this season

Kano Pillars have been fined and ordered to play their next three home matches behind closed doors following crowd trouble during a Nigerian top-flight fixture.

The sanctions were issued after the club breached rules during their Nigeria Premier Football League match against Rivers United on 19 April 2026.

League authorities said Kano Pillars failed to provide adequate security, leading to unauthorised individuals gaining access to restricted areas. Supporters also encroached onto the pitch, compromising the safety of players and officials.

Further charges relate to the conduct of supporters, including behaviour deemed capable of bringing the league into disrepute, as well as the intimidation and harassment of match officials.

The club were also found guilty of failing to control their fans, with incidents of misconduct directed at officials described as undermining the integrity of the competition.

In total, Kano Pillars have been fined 12 million naira for multiple breaches, including repeated security failures, unsporting behaviour and misconduct.
