CAF described the Africa Cup of Nations as the continent’s biggest sporting event and one of the world’s most-watched football competitions, attracting more than 3.2 billion television viewers and generating over six billion digital viewsglobally.

The governing body revealed that the bidding framework was developed with support from international consultancy firm PwC, alongside CAF’s technical, financial and external legal advisers.

According to CAF, the framework establishes the standards and criteria that will be used to evaluate competing bids before selecting the successful host nation or nations for each tournament.

While the bidding process has now officially opened, CAF has yet to announce submission deadlines, inspection timelines or the detailed technical requirements prospective hosts must satisfy.

The announcement comes as preparations continue for the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations PAMOJA 2027, which will make history as the first East African co-hosted AFCON. Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda will jointly stage the tournament from June 19 to July 17, 2027.
