D’tigress captain Amy Okonkwo has rejoined Turkish side Beşiktaş ahead of the 2025/26 Women’s Basketball Super League season following a remarkable summer.
The 29-year-old was named Most Valuable Player as D’Tigress clinched a record fifth consecutive FIBA Women’s Afrobasket crown. It was her second MVP award in three editions of the tournament.

Okonkwo then fulfilled a lifelong ambition by making her WNBA debut with the Dallas Wings, signing a short-term hardship contract before securing an extended deal to finish the season.

Her return is expected to boost Beşiktaş’ title hopes as they seek to challenge Fenerbahçe’s dominance in Turkey. The Istanbul club last won the league championship in 2005.
