Nigeria women’s national under-17 football team will depart for Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, on Wednesday ahead of their crucial 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifying fixture against Guinea women’s national under-17 football team.
The Flamingos are currently in the final phase of preparations for the second-round qualifier, with 36 players still participating in camp ahead of the squad’s expected reduction before departure.
The team arrived in Ikenne last Sunday to continue intensive preparations under head coach Akeem Busari.

As part of their build-up to the encounter, the Flamingos delivered an impressive performance in a friendly match last Thursday, thrashing Lakeside Queens 5-0 in Ikenne.
Nigeria will face Guinea in the first leg on Saturday in Abidjan, where the Guineans are set to host the match at a temporary home venue.
The return leg of the qualifier will take place at the Remo Stars Stadium on Saturday, May 30.
The Flamingos will be aiming to continue Nigeria’s strong tradition in women’s youth football as they pursue another appearance at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
