Kano Pillars have entered a new chapter after Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf approved the appointment of a new management board tasked with restoring one of Nigeria’s most decorated football clubs to the summit of the domestic game.

The new leadership will be headed by Ahmad Musbahu as chairman, with former Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa appointed as the club’s Sports Ambassador in one of the headline decisions announced by the state government.

The appointments, contained in a statement issued on Thursday by the Governor’s spokesman, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, form part of a broader restructuring of sports administration in Kano aimed at strengthening governance, youth development and sporting excellence.

Joining Musbahu on the Kano Pillars board are veteran football administrator Abba Galadima, Sharu Inuwa Rabiu, Fatima Ibrahim Abubakar, Bashir Idris, a former chairman of the Kano Pillars Fans Club, Abubakar Isa Dandago and Salisu Muhammad Kosawa.

Alongside the changes at Kano Pillars, Governor Yusuf also approved a new board for the Kano State Sports Commission.

Alhaji Tukur Babangida will serve as chairman of the commission, while the board includes representatives of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), higher institutions and persons with disabilities, as well as Alhaji Balarabe Surajo (Wamban Karaye), Ibrahim Abba, Sunusi Ismail and Sani Musa Danja.
