Moffi’s Hamburg move hangs on one final decision

Hamburg have reached an agreement with Nice for Terem Moffi’s transfer, but the Super Eagles striker is yet to make a decision on personal terms.

Bundesliga club Hamburg have moved a step closer to signing Terem Moffi after reaching an agreement with Nice over the transfer of the Super Eagles striker.

However, the move is not yet complete, with Hamburg now waiting for the 27-year-old to agree personal terms before the deal can be finalised.

According to L’Équipe, the two clubs have settled the terms of the transfer, although the financial details have not been disclosed.

The agreement could bring an end to Moffi’s three and a half year association with Nice, with the Nigerian having made it clear that he wants to leave the French club this summer.

Moffi joined Nice from Lorient in January 2023, initially on loan before the move was made permanent.

His first full season proved to be his most productive at the club, with the striker scoring 11 Ligue 1 goals to finish as Nice’s leading scorer.

His relationship with the club subsequently deteriorated, with tensions reaching a low point in November 2025.

Moffi and several teammates were assaulted by sections of Nice supporters following a league defeat to Lorient, which was Nice’s sixth successive loss.

The striker later moved to Porto on loan during the second half of last season, helping the Portuguese giants win the league title.

Porto, however, chose not to activate the €8m clause required to make his move permanent, leaving Moffi to return to Nice.

Salary could decide Hamburg move

With Moffi determined to leave and Nice also looking for a solution that would free up room for new arrivals, Hamburg have emerged as the club closest to securing his signature.

Turkish Super Lig clubs Samsunspor and Besiktas have also reportedly shown interest in the Nigerian forward.

Moffi’s salary could ultimately prove decisive in determining his next destination.

According to Capology, the striker earns around €3.14m annually at Nice, excluding bonuses, meaning he may have to accept a reduction in wages to complete a move to Hamburg.
