Newly appointed Kano Pillars chairman Ahmad Musbahu Garo has begun efforts to build key relationships ahead of the 2026/27 season after paying a courtesy visit to National Sports Commission (NSC) chairman Shehu Dikko in Abuja.

The meeting, held on Friday, centred on football development and highlighted the role of the sport in promoting youth empowerment, national unity and socio-economic growth.

It marks one of Garo’s first official engagements since taking over the leadership of Kano Pillars, following his appointment by Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf as part of a restructuring of the club’s management.

During the visit, Garo sought the support and cooperation of the National Sports Commission as he embarks on his tenure, reiterating his commitment to repositioning Kano Pillars and restoring the four-time Nigeria Premier Football League champions to the forefront of Nigerian football.

The new chairman also shared his vision for strengthening the club, with an emphasis on building a competitive institution capable of sustaining success on and off the pitch.

Responding, Shehu Dikko congratulated Garo on his appointment and welcomed the initiative to engage with the commission at the start of his tenure.

The NSC chairman expressed confidence in Garo’s ability to lead Kano Pillars, urging him to draw on his experience in football administration to guide the Sai Masu Gida back to greater success.

The visit comes just days after Kano State announced a new leadership structure for the club, with Garo appointed chairman while former General Manager Ahmed Musa assumed the role of Sports Ambassador as part of the wider reorganization.
