Samuel Chukwueze could be set for a return to familiar surroundings before the summer transfer window closes, with the Super Eagles winger’s representatives exploring a move back to La Liga despite his determination to establish himself at AC Milan.
The 27-year-old has rejoined the Rossoneri after Fulham opted against making his loan spell permanent at the end of last season. Although Chukwueze has impressed during pre-season under new manager Ruben Amorim, uncertainty over his long-term future has prompted his camp to assess opportunities in Spain.
According to Fichajes, Chukwueze’s representatives have approached several La Liga clubs, with long-time admirers Real Betis and Celta Vigo among those monitoring his situation.
However, any potential deal is unlikely to be straightforward. AC Milan are open to selling the Nigerian international but are insisting on a permanent transfer that matches their valuation, ruling out any cut-price exit despite growing interest from Spain.

Ironically, Amorim appears keen to retain the winger. The Portuguese coach has highlighted Chukwueze’s ability to beat defenders in one-on-one situations as an important asset for his squad.
“There are some players who weren’t here last year. Chukwueze is staying with us; we need players who can play one-on-one,” Amorim said, according to SempreMilan.
A return to Spain would reunite Chukwueze with the league where he established himself as one of Europe’s most exciting wide players.
The Nigerian spent six seasons with Villarreal, making 207 senior appearances while scoring 37 goals and providing countless moments of individual brilliance. In La Liga alone, he featured 155 times, registering 21 goals and 14 assists.
His finest moment came during the 2020/21 season when he played a key role in Villarreal’s historic UEFA Europa League triumph under Unai Emery, helping the Yellow Submarine claim the club’s first major European trophy after defeating Manchester United on penalties in Gdańsk.

He can remain at San Siro and fight for regular football under Amorim, whose public backing suggests opportunities could still come his way, or return to La Liga, where his reputation remains strong and several clubs believe he can quickly rediscover the form that made him one of Spain’s most feared wingers.
