Italian side Genoa have reportedly renewed their interest in Blackburn Rovers defender Ryan Alebiosu after the Nigerian enjoyed a breakthrough season for both club and country.
The 24-year-old right-back has emerged as one of Blackburn’s most consistent performers since arriving from Belgian side Kortrijk less than a year ago, quickly establishing himself under manager Michael O’Neill.
His impressive form in England also earned him international recognition with Nigeria during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Alebiosu made his Super Eagles debut in Nigeria’s final group stage match against Uganda and immediately caught attention with a composed display in a 3-1 victory.

The defender played the full 90 minutes as Eric Chelle’s side maintained their perfect start to the tournament in Fes.
Goals from Paul Onuachu and a Raphael Onyedika brace sealed the win for Nigeria, while Uganda were reduced to 10 men before the hour mark following the dismissal of Selim Magoola.
The result ensured the Super Eagles finished top of Group C with three wins from three matches to advance into the knockout stages.
Nigeria coach Eric Chelle later praised Alebiosu’s performance but admitted concerns over an injury sustained during the game.
“This is his first game in Africa, in AFCON and I’m happy with how he did,” Chelle said.
“I’m worried, because he has an injury. His leg is open (cut), but I’m happy with how he played today.”

Alebiosu’s rapid rise has also attracted interest from Italy.
Serie A side Genoa attempted to sign the defender during the January transfer window and reportedly submitted an offer worth around €5m.
Blackburn rejected the proposal at the time as they fought to avoid relegation and were unwilling to lose one of their most important players midway through the campaign.
However, reports from Italy now suggest Genoa are preparing another move ahead of the summer transfer window, with Blackburn believed to be more open to negotiations.

According to Tuttomercato, the same fee previously offered in January could still be enough to complete the transfer.
Alebiosu is reportedly among the options being considered by Genoa chief football officer Diego Lopez as the club seeks reinforcements in wide defensive positions.
The defender enjoyed an outstanding Championship campaign, making 39 appearances while contributing one goal and five assists.

His performances also earned him a nomination for Blackburn Rovers’ Player of the Season award, although the prize eventually went to Ryoya Morishita.
