Unity Schools alumni converge in Enugu for USOSA Sports Carnival 2026

Former students of Unity Schools in Nigeria will gather in Enugu this week for the fourth edition of the USOSA Sports Carnival, a nationwide event combining sport, reunion and cultural celebration.

USOSA which means Unity Schools Old Students Association brings together alumni of Federal government colleges from across the country.

The event begins on Thursday 23 April with an opening ceremony scheduled from 16:00 to 19:00, ahead of two full days of competition across multiple venues in the city.

The bulk of outdoor competition will take place at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, where events start at 08:00 on Friday 24 April and conclude with finals and a closing ceremony on Saturday.

The programme includes:

Volleyball (men and women)

Basketball (men and women)

Five-a-side football (men and women)

Tug of war (men and women)

Track and field events feature prominently, including:

100m races (men and women)

60m races for ages 50–59 (men and women)

60m veterans races (above 60, men and women)

4x60m relays (men, women and veterans categories)

Invitational relays

Recreational and ceremonial events include:

Sack races (men and women)

Egg-and-spoon race

March past

Racket sports, swimming and indoor games at Enugu Sports Club

At the Enugu Sports Club, competitions will also begin at 08:00 on Friday, running through to finals the same day.

Events include:

Badminton (men and women)

Tennis (men and women)

Squash (men and women)

Swimming (two events for men and women)

Snooker (men and women)

Draughts (men and women)

Golf tees off early

At the club’s golf section, players will begin competition earlier, with tee-off scheduled for 07:00 on Friday, featuring:

Golf (men and women)

Board games and table tennis at Federal Government College Enugu

Indoor competitions will be staged at the Federal Government College Enugu, inside the school’s multi-purpose hall.

Starting at 08:00 on Friday, events include:

Chess – best player

Scrabble – best player

Ludo – best player

Table tennis (men and women)

Snooker – best player

Draughts (above 50 years)

Federal Government College Ikot Ekpene Akwa Ibom State are the defending champions having won the third edition in Port Harcourt last year.
