Nigeria’s U17 national team, the Golden Eaglets, have officially opened camp ahead of the 2026 WAFU B U17 Boys Championship scheduled for September.
The regional competition will serve as the qualifying tournament for the 2027 Africa U17 Cup of Nations, with teams from across West Africa battling for places at the continental championship.
The Nigeria Football Federation has assembled a new technical crew to lead the country’s preparations, with Eboboritse Uwejamomere appointed head coach for the assignment.
Uwejamomere will be supported by Olumide Ajibolade, who takes up the role of first assistant coach, while Mohammed Kachala has been named second assistant coach. Abdullahi Isa completes the technical setup as the team’s goalkeepers’ trainer.

The opening of camp marks the first step in Nigeria’s quest to secure qualification for the next Africa U17 Cup of Nations and re-establish themselves among the continent’s elite youth teams.
Nigeria remain the most successful nation in the history of the U17 Africa Cup of Nations with seven titles and will be hoping a new generation of talented youngsters can continue that legacy.
The WAFU B Championship is expected to provide a stern test for the Golden Eaglets as they seek a return to continental competition and ultimately target qualification for future global tournaments.
Preparations are now set to intensify in camp as the coaching staff assess players and build a squad capable of challenging for honours in September and securing one of the coveted qualification spots for the 2027 Africa U17 Cup of Nations.
