Super Eagles secured a 2-1 victory over Iran in an international friendly in Antalya, with early attacking efficiency and late defensive resilience proving decisive.
The Super Eagles made a fast start, taking the lead inside six minutes through Moses Simon. The winger collected a precise pass from Samuel Chukwueze, turned his marker and finished low into the corner to give Nigeria early control.
Nigeria dominated possession for much of the first half, with Wilfred Ndidi dictating the tempo in midfield. Iran showed glimpses of threat, particularly through Mehdi Taremi, but struggled to convert promising moments into clear chances before the break.
The Super Eagles extended their lead shortly after half-time. Ademola Lookman threaded a pass through the defence to Akor Adams, who finished calmly to make it 2-0.
Iran responded in the 67th minute when Taremi reacted quickest after a corner struck the crossbar, reducing the deficit and setting up a tense closing phase. The forward later had the ball in the net again, but the effort was ruled out for handball.
Nigeria created further chances to extend their advantage, with Lookman going close from distance, but were forced to defend deep as Iran pushed for an equaliser.
