Niger Tornadoes have thrown down the gauntlet to newly appointed Technical Adviser Kabiru Suleiman Dogo, setting continental qualification as the club’s primary objective after handing the experienced tactician a three-year contract ahead of the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League season.
The Minna-based side officially unveiled Dogo at the Niger State Ministry of Sports Development, where club officials and government representatives outlined an ambitious vision to restore the Ikon Allah Boys among Nigeria’s elite and secure a place in continental competition.
The appointment signals the beginning of what the club hopes will be a long-term rebuilding project under one of the Nigeria Premier Football League’s most experienced indigenous coaches.
Club chairman Dr. Abubakar Abdullahi Kuso made the expectations clear during the unveiling, declaring that qualifying for continental football is the management’s overriding target for the new campaign while assuring the technical crew of full support in achieving that ambition.

Niger Tornadoes have appointed experienced coach Kabiru Dogo on a three-year contract, tasking him with leading the club back to continental football under the Niger State Government’s ambitious “New Niger” agenda.
The vision was echoed by the Permanent Secretary of the Niger State Ministry of Sports Development, Dr. Nuhu Garba Ngaski, who described Dogo’s appointment as part of Governor Mohammed Umar Bago’s “New Niger” agenda aimed at repositioning sports in the state.
Ngaski urged the new Technical Adviser to hit the ground running while calling on the club’s management and technical crew to work together in pursuit of their shared objective. He also reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to providing the necessary backing to help the club compete at the highest level.
The appointment is surely another major challenge in a coaching career that has taken him across several top-flight clubs, including ABS, Nasarawa United, Kwara United, Wikki Tourists, Lobi Stars, Sunshine Stars and El-Kanemi Warriors.
Widely respected for building disciplined teams, identifying young talents and achieving results despite limited resources, the veteran coach arrives in Minna with a reputation forged over years in the domestic game.
His unveiling also comes at a notable moment, with Dogo currently leading El-Kanemi Warriors into the President Federation Cup final against Ikorodu City before officially assuming duties with Niger Tornadoes.

Speaking after signing his contract, Dogo expressed gratitude to the club’s management and the Niger State Government for the confidence shown in him, promising to build a competitive squad capable of matching the club’s lofty ambitions.
The veteran coach pledged to revitalise Niger Tornadoes in line with the state’s “New Niger” vision, assuring supporters they would see a transformed team capable of competing with the best in the country.
The three-year contract also reflects the club’s preference for long-term stability rather than another short-term managerial cycle, with officials believing continuity will strengthen the team’s identity, improve player development and deliver sustained success.

Dogo’s immediate focus will now shift to assessing his squad, strengthening key areas during the transfer window and implementing his tactical philosophy before the new NPFL season begins in August.
Niger Tornadoes have also confirmed they will return to the Bako Kontagora Stadium in Minna for the new campaign, with renovation work on the facility set to resume immediately and expected to be completed before the start of the season.
