Flying Eagles resume camp as Maikaba unveils coaching crew ahead of WAFU B qualifiers

Flying Eagles coach Abdu Maikaba has confirmed his backroom staff ahead of Nigeria’s preparations for the WAFU B U-20 Championship, with camp opening in Abuja on May 17.

Newly appointed Flying Eagles head coach Abdu Maikaba has officially confirmed his backroom staff ahead of Nigeria’s preparations for the upcoming WAFU B U-20 Boys Championship.

According to reports, Maikaba will work alongside Ortega Deniran as first assistant coach, while Abdullahi Biffo takes the role of second assistant coach.

Usman Mohammed has also been appointed as the team’s goalkeepers’ trainer.

The Flying Eagles are expected to resume camp in Abuja on Sunday, May 17, as preparations intensify for the WAFU B U-20 Boys Championship scheduled for July.

The regional competition will serve as the qualification pathway for the 2027 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations, with Nigeria aiming to secure another appearance at the continental tournament.

The Flying Eagles remain one of Africa’s most successful youth national teams, having won the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations a record seven times.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Football Federation has also confirmed the coaching crew for the Golden Eaglets.

Newly appointed Golden Eaglets head coach Eboboritse Uwejamomere will be assisted by Olumide Joseph Ajibolade as first assistant coach and Mohammed Kalli Kachala as second assistant coach.

Abdullahi Isa has been named goalkeepers’ trainer for the U-17 side.

This year’s WAFU B U-17 Boys Championship is expected to take place in September and will serve as the qualifying tournament for the 2027 Africa U-17 Cup of Nations.
