The high-profile ceremony brought together Confederation of African Football president Dr Patrice Motsepe, Cameroon Prime Minister HE Dr Joseph Dion Ngute, FECAFOOT president Samuel Eto’o, government officials, football legends and members of the business community.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony was jointly performed by Motsepe and Eto’o alongside Prime Minister Dion Ngute and Cameroon’s Sports Minister, Pr Narcisse Mouelle Kombi, marking the formal opening of the federation’s new state-of-the-art headquarters in the Warda district of Yaoundé.

The project represents one of the biggest infrastructure milestones for Cameroonian football administration in recent years and forms part of CAF’s wider push toward improving football facilities and governance structures across Africa.

Speaking during the ceremony, Eto’o described the new headquarters as more than just a building, insisting it symbolizes a turning point for football management in Cameroon.

“This is a signal of a new era,” Eto’o declared.

“We are moving away from the administrative challenges of the past toward a structured, efficient organization that provides our teams with the environment they deserve to succeed.”

The former Barcelona and Inter Milan striker has consistently pushed modernization reforms since becoming FECAFOOT president, with improved governance, infrastructure development and institutional stability among his major priorities.

The headquarters replaces the federation’s old administrative base in Tsinga and is expected to centralize operations, improve coordination and provide a more professional working environment for Cameroon football administration.

CAF president Motsepe’s presence added continental significance to the event, with the South African businessman reaffirming CAF’s support for infrastructure growth and institutional development across African football.

The inauguration also attracted several African football dignitaries and legends, underlining Cameroon’s continued influence within continental football politics.

Before the official unveiling, FECAFOOT organized several activities across Yaoundé including a sports march, a gala match, concerts and a football caravan that moved through the city from the federation’s former headquarters to the military stadium.

The headquarters project itself dates back more than a decade and was initially launched under former FECAFOOT president Iya Mohamed before being revived and completed during Eto’o’s administration.

FECAFOOT executive committee member Christian Em acknowledged the contribution of previous administrations while praising Eto’o for ensuring the project was finally completed.

Beyond football symbolism, the new headquarters is also being viewed as an attempt to reset Cameroon football’s image after years of administrative disputes and internal crises.
